TWU Athletics Mission and Goals

Intercollegiate Athletics functions as an integral part of the total educational offerings of the University through the unique competitive learning experiences it provides. The Intercollegiate Athletics Program shares with other components on the campus the responsibility to contribute positively to the optimal development of each individual student in a learning environment that empowers and affirms the full development of women. 

OBJECTIVES

  • Encourage scholarship and the attainment of a baccalaureate degree for each student-athlete
  • Provide an opportunity for each talented student-athlete to pursue athletic excellence through competitive opportunities including regional and national competition
  • Field disciplined and competitive teams with student-athletes recruited, coached and supported by a competent staff dedicated to the observation of the spirit as well as the letter of all applicable rules and regulations
  • Contribute to the optimum level of fitness, performance and well-being of each student-athlete
  • Maximize opportunities for student-athletes to acquire and demonstrate positive values, high standards of ethical conduct and sporting behavior from their competitive sports experiences
  • Provide positive involvement through Intercollegiate Athletics with TWU Almunae and the community
  • Provide an atmosphere for student-athletes to realize the importance of others and the value of teamwork and cooperation in attaining goals
  • Encourage students to value a wellness lifestyle as a meaningful and essential part of their future
